Allergenicity assessment to prevent allergies to new food products

The development of new or improved crops  and the upcoming market of sustainable protein sources entails the need for advanced allergenicity assessment methods. The objective of Program Line 2 is to:

develop assays and a multi-parameter model for predicting the health impact of (novel or modified) food protein products in consumer populations.

This will reduce the risk of development of new food allergies. This will support the food industry to improve the efficiency of product development and reduce costs by early de-selection of ingredients or source materials that may have a negative health impact.
